On the wee hours of Friday hundreds on thousands of people gathered once again in the Tahrir Square, by that time there were rumors from various sources that the President is going to address the public stating that he will step down. On hearing this crowd grew as thousands of people join the rest in Tahrir Square for bidding farewell to their President. The entire square was swept by jubilations as people though they finally had raised the Iron Curtain that ruled over three decades. The President Finally came out and addressed the people that he is going to transfer some powers to his Vice President and he will remain as President until the general elections in September.

What was a jubilation turned into utter dismay after this speech. People of Egypt were enraged after hearing the president won’t step down. Huge roar prevailed in Tharir Square as the crowd chanted “Leave, leave" and "Down with Mubarak".

Many protestors started marching to the Presidential Place which was miles away from the square. There was a sense of uncertainty that what is going to happen next. Pressure on President Mubarak increased as the International Community asked him to quit. But Mubarak seemed too resilient. The protest was escalated as they said million will march to the Presidential Square if he didn’t quit.

The Storm the Wikileaks

The recent release of some of the classified US Embassy’s Cables by the Wikileaks has created a storm in the US. Wikileaks a whistleblower website which leaked aout quarter million cables since last Sunday has deeply damaged the image of the US in International Stage.

The leaked cables reveal some flat-out details of the functions of the US Embassy’s around the world. The cables show that the US Embassy’s acts as spy to their host nations around the world and keep the Washington posted of everything and about that is happening there.

The cables mostly contains information that is already been published in various articles and journals and it is only adding up to prove those claims to the public.

Some of the information in the cable shows the increasing tension between Islamabad and Pakistan. The American diplomats has expressed fears of the Pakistan’s Nuclear stock pile which may fall on the hands of the terrorist or even start first ever nuclear war with India.

One of the important information that has been exposed by the cables is the intense tension growing between Islamabad and Washington DC. There is an increasing fear among the US and UK diplomats that the Nuclear Stock piles stored in Pakistan may fall in to the hands of the extremist.

Russian Foreign Ministry has told Washington that the last few years extremists have attacked vehicles that carry staff to and from these facilities. Some were killed and a number were abducted and there has been no trace seen of them says the secret cable.

The other major t cable that came to the light was the secret analysis of the Cold Start Doctrine of India conducted by the US.

Cold Plan is an operational plan devised by the Indian army in the year 2004 to partially attack Pakistan which quickly punishes them over some event, possibly in response to a Pakistan-linked terrorist attack in India, without threatening the survival of the Pakistani state or provoking a nuclear response.

But the Indian Army general has dismissed the claims of “Cold Start” plans devised by the Army. The fact that India didn’t adopt plan even after a huge scale attack such as the 26/11 Mumbai Attack India didn’t adopt it.

The cables also allege that Russia is turning into a “Mafia State” and also corrupt to the very top level in the Government.

The release of cable has made the allies of the US to be skeptic about their relationship.
Many head of state have raised their eye brows on the perception of the US Government on them They have started to think if the US is a trust worthy nation that could be relied upon.

The US is already in a damage control mode starting with Hilary Clinton who is on a tour to meet their European allies. The tour is been overshadowed by the Wikileaks release and she is trying hard to reclaim the sullied image of the US. The cables contained some very frank remarks of the European Leaders such as the Italian Silvio Berlusconi who was described "feckless, vain and ineffective” and his counter part from Germany the German Chancellor as risk averse and rarely creative.

It is going to be a high mountain to climb for the US to get back their image as a trusted ally and the world will start to have a sharp eye on their relationship with the US.

Mission Kashmir

The Interlocutors are approaching to the people of Kashmir to understand the sentiments regarding the Kashmir Issue. They are facing an uphill battle in the valley as Hurriyat leader Geelani has called the people of Kashmir to boycott them.

The Interlocutors which is a three member team comprises of Dileep Padgaonkar, Radha Kumar and M M Ansari. The Government decision to pick non-politicians came as a big surprise as many expected politicians who would fit the bill after the momentum established by the MP’s visit to the valley.

The people of Kashmir are skeptic about the Interlocutors as what many difference they can make to the valley. They have an intimidating task on hands as the separatist, opposition party and the media all breathing down on their necks.

The first main job on hands for the Interlocutors is to gain trust among the people of Kashmir. They must make the people feel that they are here to lend their ears and they are not drama queens of the government to the eye of the people. It’s important they have a literal grasp of the situation. The task is really sensitive so it is important that they handle them well. It is an opportunity for them to create a name for themselves. If they can achieve that, it will prompt many more people from the valley to come forward expressing their views and concerns about the situation there to them.

It will all come down to this the trust of the Kashmir people on them that will decide whether the mission is going to be a success or not. Its time for rest of India to understand the people of Kashmir and it is the Interlocutors who must make that happen.

Commonwealth games 2010 wheels look well and truly off

In 2003 when Delhi won the bid to host the Common Wealth Games in 2010 the whole of India was ecstatic. We thought this is the opportunity to show the might of India and to prove India doesn’t resemble the synonyms of poverty and corruption.

Seven years on, less than two week for the CWG to begin we find the image of India tarnished because of poor organizing of the games. We find all sorts of adjectives used by the media around the world to describe the mess that is CWG 2010 Delhi.
In the past we have seen every major event like Olympics, FIFA World Cup and Common Wealth games will always face some criticism or the other from the local Media of the host country. We have seen it in 2010 FIFA World Cup which was held in South Africa and also to some extent for the Beijing Olympics but in the end all those criticism turned out to be a mere conjecture. Unfortunately it is not so in the case of Delhi CWG.

We are getting sick of reading news about bridge collapsed in CWG venue, ceiling falls inside the stadium, poor maintenance in the athletes village, start athletes pull out fearing security and much more. But the officials doesn’t seam to bother about it and we see officials giving interview that these are minor glitches which do happen not insurmountable.

Responding to allegations that dogs and shit (and dog shit) were to be found in abundance at the Commonwealth Games athletes' village, one organizer said, entirely without irony, that it was a "stray incident". The officials have made a big mistake in assuming that they can fool the International delegation like they do with the local subject on a daily basis.

The hot topics on social networking sites like facebook and twitter are about the Common Wealth Games. The country’s images have never been so torn apart in this magnitude. If this was any other country Kalmadi and other top officials involved will be kicked out long back.

India has been given 48-hours to save the games. I wonder what the Government was doing for the last seven years. We really need a miracle to happen to turn around the present situation. The scars of this will remain deep in the future of the country.

There is nothing to be proud in this common wealth games even if it goes ahead.

Microsoft sets hope on IE9 in the browser war

The battle of browser has intensified further as Microsoft released the beta version of IE9.

The launch of IE9 is an attempt by Microsoft to get back users it lost to its competitors.

Since 2003 Microsoft has lost about 40% share in the browser market. The launch of Chrome and Firefox has drifted away users from the Internet Explorer in recent years.

Presently IE holds 61%, Firefox 25% and chrome whose market share are increasing rapidly since its launch holds 7% and followed by Safari, Opera and others.

Why people started moving away from IE?

Over the years the Internet usage has grown rapidly. And the users wanted rich and secured browsing experience which Microsoft failed to provide through its IE.

Browsers like Mozilla Firefox and Opera who were relatively new to the market managed to provide the user faster, secured and richer browsing experience. As they continued to develop more and more people stopped using the traditional IE and shifted to Firefox and others.

The launch of Google Chrome was big impact on the web-users. The newer look, easy to surf and faster browsing has boosted the usage of Google chrome. Chrome has become preferred option next to Firefox for social networking people.

The only thing which still makes IE uphold its market share above others is because it comes as default browser with the Windows OS.

Finally the sleeping Giant Microsoft woke up and is trying to put some heat on its competitors from its new launch IE9(beta).

The mantra used by Microsoft for IE9 is run every page in the internet as app in Windows7.

IE9 uses hardware accelerator technology which use 100% of the hardware power of the PC and to bring best experience possible and also makes it faster than other browsers.

IE9 support HTML5 video, include a new Microsoft JavaScript engine which will help to enhance the browsing. HTML5, which is currently under development, will include video playback and other graphics-intensive features that, in the past, could only be done by adding third-party software

Well for all the Microsoft Xp users out there I’m sorry this is not one for you as IE9 won't run on XP.

The Microsoft has not yet announced when will IE9 get through the test phase and will be available as full version for download.

One thing is for sure IE9 promises to take browser technology to a new level. But it is no means an indication that they are again going to regain monopoly in browsers.

Its competitors Firefox and Chrome are also working on developing its browsers. The former is already testing Firefox4.0 which will be launched shortly.

The Browser race is here to stay and we the users are going to be most benefited from it.

President Obama backs Ground Zero Mosque

Obama gave a speech during White House dinner Celebrating Ramzan that "as a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country"

He added “This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable. The principle that people of all faiths are welcome in this country, and will not be treated differently by their government, is essential to who we are.”

Many people have welcomed this speech and it has given enormous boost for building Muslim community center and mosque near ground zero. When people are having a wrong perception and doing a wrong thing it is important that the President show them that they are wrong. Mr.Obama has done exactly that. It is important Americans must understand that it is not Muslim that they are fighting, it is Al-Queda and its ally Taliban that they are fighting.

By denying the right to build mosque near the ground Zero it will only create social unrest and grow the anti-american sentiment in the Muslim World. The Muslim-Americans living in the country will become even more fearful of their being.

This debate of building mosque or not is not going to end now. But President's backing along with that of the Mayor of New York will prove decisive in the end. Lets hope all masses are given equal rights to practice the religion they want and where they want.

Truly the Beautiful Game

The world's greatest sporting event has come to an end. FIFA World Cup 2010 will now become thing of the past. But a past that would make the Africans proud. There is truly nothing in the world that can unify people as football does. People of South Africa, all blacks, whites and Indian origins all came together as one country and has put up a great show. For all those who where skeptical about South Africa to host the World Cup, they proved them all wrong and has done it in style.

Two decades before none of the South African themselves would have believed they would host a football world cup. It was the time of apartheid, the whites plays Rugby and the black plays soccer. The whites at that time used to refer football as "gentleman's game played by hooligans" . But now it all forgotten its a thing of the past. This World Cup the blacks the whites and the Indians have all come together as never before and organized their continents first world cup.

Many countries in Africa are still under a coup and dictatorship. Africa has the most no of AIDS patients in the world, more than one-third of the population live in hunger without shelter or any sort of education. They lead a very miserable life, a life none of us can even imagine but if there is one thing in the world that can give them joy its football. Africa embraces football that no one does and in this world cup the entire continent has stood by shoulder to shoulder as their world cup.

The world champions Spain is going through a rough patch. Spain is facing troubles economically and it is on a brink. And the people are divided socially, politically, culturally. Catlan population are asking for a separate nation catalonia, they don't want to be with Spain. This can be seen between the rivalry of Barcelona and Real Madrid. As much as football helps to show anger it equally help to show the unity. Yesterday night when Spain won the World Cup Madrid went wild and even the northeast region of Spain in Barcelona which is Catalonia's capital people equally celebrated. They waved the flag not Catalonia's senyra but the red and yellow of Spain. most of them who were celebrating was seen a day before protesting for a separate nations. This shows the power of football and it is truly the beautiful game.

Even the North Koreans who are isolated from the rest of the world and are not member of the UN is a member of FIFA for more than half a century. Football can unify people than anything, this is not only a beautiful game its game of love and peace. The world cup has come at the right time for spain where the country is divided, hope the Spanish can learn from their team where Catalan's, Valencias and MadrileƱos all played as one to win the Cup for Spain.
